Material Database
The TPSX Thermal Protection Systems Expert and Material Properties Database
is being developed by George Hartlieb under a contract between ELORET and
the Thermal Protection Materials
& Systems Branch at NASA Ames Research
Center. TPSX is a Windows-based computer program for maintaining properties
of advanced thermal protection system (TPS) materials. The program provides an
easy user interface for retrieving, displaying, graphing, printing and saving
material properties in a variety of formats. The database includes thermal, mechanical,
ablation and chemical properties of many of the high-temperature insulation materials
developed at NASA Ames and elsewhere. A description of each material, including
references and common applications, is also provided. TPSX also contains
photographs and schematic sketches of some materials.
TPSX is currently used by over 900 researchers, scientists and engineers at every NASA research facility, several Government labs and universities, and over 40 commercial aerospace and research companies.
For more information about the program see the official TPSX
Web Site. TPSX version 1.1 can now be downloaded directly off the
Web from the TPSX
Download Site.
